The death of a language can happen for different reasons. Sometimes it is a malicious, targeted attack against a culture, often done as part of a racist and colonialist agenda. Other times languages disappear as a result of globalization, filtering out gradually. As People become bilingual, either because another language is more prestigious or to avoid discrimination for using their native tongue. (read more here)
